SNAPPER
THERE ARE MANY SPECIES OF SNAPPER IN OUR AREA INSHORE AND OFFSHORE WATERS. SNAPPER CAN BE A LOT OF FUN ON LIGHT TACKLE. THE MANGROVE SNAPPER IS THE MOST COMMON SPECIES IN THE WEST CENTRAL GULF, AND ARE CAUGHT BOTH INSHORE AND OFFSHORE. THE MANGROVES CAUGHT OFFSHORE CAN RANGE IN SIZE FROM 1 TO 10 POUNDS. THE YELLOWTAIL SNAPPER IS ALSO CAUGHT IN OUR AREA. THEY ARE FOUND ON DEEP WRECKS AND SPRINGS IN THE SUMMER MONTHS AND CAN RANGE IN SIZE FROM 1 TO 7 POUND FLAGS. RED SNAPPER ARE ALSO A DEEPER WATER SNAPPER AND PROBABLY THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER, MY PERSONAL FAVORITE. RED SNAPPER ARE TARGETED STARTING IN MID APRIL THROUGH OCTOBER AND RANGE IN SIZE FROM 2 TO 20 POUNDS. OTHER SNAPPER CAUGHT IN OUR AREA ARE MUTTON, VERMILLION, AND LANE, ALL VERY GOOD EATING AND FUN TO CATCH.
